Whether it was getting straight A's or winning a soccer tournament, I have to win in everything. One of the hardest challenges I have faced is keeping my composure. I have struggled with my emotions getting the best of me as well as letting my competitiveness turn into negativity. However, once I began doing track, it has taught me to learn more about myself and grow as a track and field athlete. Track and field has had a major impact on how I keep composed because not only is it an individual sport, it teaches you how to compete with yourself. Although track is an individual sport it is an overall team sport, considering how each member pushes every other to do their best and how we all work together to be the best team out there. Off the track, I am soccer player. Soccer has always been my favorite sport because of my team, my coaches, and the overall game itself. I have been playing soccer since I was in the first grade and I plan to play professionally. My soccer team has won our division every fall and spring and we have done extremely well in tournaments. I also used to play basketball, which I did for four years, and I played on an AAU team. I have played volleyball, too. Overall, doing all of these sports has let me grow as an athlete and a better teammate, but I will always love winning. Qualifying for Nationals would be a great honor and I hope to go sometime in the future. I think it would be a great opportunity to travel and compete against the best of the best. Track and field has definitely changed me and I plan to stick with it for as long as possible. |
