Hitting the ball is the highlight for ball players, but the fun for me was AFTER the ball was hit. I loved sprinting around the bases trying to beat the ball to the plate! In middle school, I decided to try something new and go out for track instead of baseball. I learned that sprinting satisfied my competitive spirit, allowing me to set both individual and team goals. Both years in middle school, I qualified for the Greater Spokane League All City meets for the 100m, 200m and 4X100. Turns out, trading baseball for track was the best decision I could have made, and I haven’t looked back since. As a freshman on the Joel E. Ferris High School track team, I placed 2nd in the 100m as well as 1st place in the 4X100 at the Freshman Greater Spokane League Championships in 2018. My Sophomore year, my goal was to improve my Personal Record times at each meet. My PR improved 4 times, ending with a 11.52 for the 100m and 24.24 for the 200m. I placed 8th in the 100m and 1st in the 4x100 at the 4A Greater Spokane League Championships which allowed me to be a qualifier at the District 8 3A/4A Track and Field Championships for 2019. My 4X100 team received Honorable Mention for the 2019 Spring Sport All League Teams in Spokane. I worked hard to become the second fastest sophomore in the Greater Spokane League in 2019. I was awarded the Most Improved Varsity Sprinter by the Ferris Coaches and I received my varsity track letter as a sophomore. My goal for junior year is to improve my 100m time by 1 second. Joining Spokane Speed Academy is one of my action steps in the process to achieving this goal. Spokane Speed Academy has pushed me to better my sprinting skills, provided me with individualized coaching, allowed me to build friendships with teammates who during the school year might be competitors from other schools, and inspired me to be the best athlete I can be. When I’m not participating in track, you can find me doing activities revolving around sports, either as a participant or spectator. I can be found reading sports articles/blogs/apps catching up on stats on my favorite teams and athletes! Even the video games I play are all sports related! My family is super important to me and I enjoy spending time with my parents and my sister. Being a typical teenager, I love hanging out with friends from school. I currently maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA. I hope to use my good grades and track success to obtain a scholarship for college to further my education. I’m a big WSU Cougar fan, so that school tops my list right now, but I’m open to other colleges too! I’m interested in Sports Science and would like to Major in it. I see myself being an Athletic Trainer in my future and perhaps being a coach as well. |
