Jake discovered his passion for track as a 4th grader in 2012. He was already an avid soccer player and also enjoyed basketball, snow/water skiing, snowboarding and tennis. Jake ran undefeated in the 400, 800 and 1500 meters and the cross country mile throughout his elementary and middle school years. In 7th grade, Jake broke a 29 year-old Greater Spokane League Middle School All City Record for the 800 meters by 3 seconds, running a 2.08. In 8th grade, Jake broke an 18 year-old GSL Middle School All City Record for the 800 meters by over 4 seconds, running a 2.02. Jake has run in USATF Junior Olympic track meets since 2013. He has finished first or second in the 400 and 800 meters at the USATF Junior Olympic Association and Regional meets and has qualified every year for USATF Junior Olympic Nationals. With Coach Jackson’s permission, Jake was privileged to join Spokane Speed Academy in the fall of 2015 as an 8th grader and ran indoor track with SSA. Running for SSA has given Jake the opportunity to create friendships with other athletes and to receive the training he needs to compete as a 400 and 800 meter athlete.
