I lived there through my 8th grade year, and when I was a Freshman my family relocated to Northern Idaho. I have been in sports ever since I was 3. I did gymnastics for 6 years and I played soccer for 11 years and began running track in 6th grade. I got into track by running a 5k race my hometown had put on. I took first in that event and it gave me the drive to pursue running further. I started out running the 1500m and 800m doing very well, but I wanted to see how I would do in shorter distances so I tried the 400m and 200m as well. In 7th grade, I qualified for nationals in the 400m, 200m, and 800m. In my freshman and sophomore year, I competed at state in the 200m, 400m, 4x200m, and 4x400m. This past season my Sophmore year at State I placed first in the 400m, 4x200m, 4x400m, and second in the 200m, breaking 3 school records. I have also continued distance running by competing in cross country, and I made it to State my sophomore year. Running and competing has taught me to push myself not only on the track but in life as well. To achieve success whether it be beating a PR, or doing well in school, I need to work hard. Running has also helped me in stressful times. It helps me clear my head and find peace in stressful situations. In the classroom, I strive to challenge myself by taking AP and honors classes. In doing so I have achieved a 4.14 GPA. I set high standards for myself and work hard to achieve them, on and off the track. I have goals to improve my times, keep my grades high, and to defend my titles. |
